JOSEPH L. THIBODEAU
Joseph LeRoy Thibodeau, a resident of 107 Stark St., Bennington, died unexpectedly at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Birmingham, Ala., Tuesday.
Better known as Roy, Mr. Thibodeau was born in North Adams, Mass., May 17, 1911, son of Joseph Thibodeau and the former Amelia Roy. A World War II veteran, he received his education in Bennington schools.
He was married to the former Yvonne Foucher at Sacred Heart Church Nov 11, 1937, and was employed at Union Carbide Corp for 30 years. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 307, a member of VFW Post 1332, and also belonged to the Southern Vermont Boating Club and the Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart Church.
Survivors besides his wife include a son, Timothy; one sister, Mrs. Doris Boulet of Bennington; two brothers, Alfred H. of Shaftsbury and Edward C. of Bennington.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home Saturday at 9:30 am with a prayer and from Sacred Heart Church at 10 am when the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 pm ad Friday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm when the family will be in attendance. A wake service will be held Friday at 8:30 pm.
Entombment will be in Park Lawn Chapel with burial to be in the cemetery at a later date.
If friends desire, contributions may be made in Mr. Thibodeau's memory to the Sacred Heart Church Hall renovation fund through the funeral home office.
All member of the Knights of Columbus Council are requested to meet at the funeral home Friday at 8 pm for the recitation of the rosary.
