Tammy L. Snyder, 47 years of age, of Beatrice, died Friday, May 22, 2009 at her residence.
She was born on March 27, 1962, at Beatrice and graduated from Beatrice High School in 1979. She married Kevin D. Snyder, her high school sweetheart, on Aug. 17, 1979, at Beatrice. She worked for American Tool in Beatrice and DeWitt for over 20 years, and currently owned and operated Poo's Palace in Beatrice. She was one of the founding members of Women For Racing, co-chaired the Out of the Darkness Walk, attended St. John Lutheran Church and was a member of the Eagles and VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed her grandchildren, helping others, taking photographs and collecting Mickey Mouse and NASCAR memorabilia.
Survivors include one daughter, Melissa Carlson and her husband Shawn, and one son, Jeremy Snyder and special friend Melissa Shandera, all of Beatrice; five grandchildren, Nicholas Snyder, Madison and Brooklyn Carlson, and Mackenzie Shandera and Adison Torske of Beatrice; special friend, Tim Dickson of Beatrice; her father, Ray Young and wife Lin of Eagle, Neb.; her mother, Barb Shaw and husband Bob of Decatur, Ill.; four sisters, Barb Young of Chanute, Kan., Cindy Young and husband Mike of Round Rock, Texas, Stacey Ward and husband Todd of Danvers, Ill., and Jamie Young and special friend Preston Hardin of Decatur, lll.; three brothers, Ryan Young and special friend Jessica Meyer of Wymore, Lance Swartz, Jeremy Swartz and wife Kandi, all of Lincoln; three sisters-in-law, Carrie Hancock and husband Joe and Rhonda Weise and husband David, all of Beatrice, and Jackie Moser and husband Shawn of St. Joseph, Mo.; one brother-in-law, Michael Snyder and wife Lori of Council Bluffs, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kevin Snyder, who died on May 13, 2007; her mother-in-law, Shirley Aden Snyder; her father-in-law, Furman "Mike" Snyder; and grandparents, George and Irene Clark and Herb Jr. and Millie Bitting.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, at the St. John Lutheran Church, Sixth and Washington streets, Beatrice, with Pastor David Kramer officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to her grandchildren's education fund with the funeral home in charge. Visitation will be held at the Fox Funeral Home, 19th and Garfield streets, Beatrice, Monday from noon until 9 p.m., Tuesday from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m., and then one hour preceding the service at the church on Wednesday. The family will meet and greet relatives and friends Tuesday evening from 8 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
