Annie Jane "Nettie" Burgess was the daughter of William James and Laura Elizabeth Smith Burgess.
She is buried with her spouse Robert Adams. They don't appear to have had any children but she was Step Mother to his children by his first wife.
According to her obituary in the Florence Morning News Aug 29, 1967, she was a resident of the Bethel Community and a lifelong member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. She was survived by a sister Minnie B Burgess; two stepdaughters and a stepson.Mrs. Nettie Burgess Adams, widow of Robert E. Adams of the Bethel community, died Sunday in Williamsburg County Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Funeral services were held at 11 a. m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Williamsburg Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Epps Cemetery.

Mrs. Adams was born in South Carolina, a daughter of the late Laura Elizabeth Smith and Willie James Burgess. She was a lifelong member of Bethel Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are: one sister, Mrs. Minnie B. Burgess of New Zion; two step-daughters, Mrs. Lila Frierson and Mrs. Annie Ceil Duke of Kingstree; and one step-son, Fulton Adams of Kingstree.
