Ronald R. "Huger" "Papa" Tolbert Sr. BRISTOL, Tenn. Ronald "Huger" Tolbert, age 76, of 745 Alabama Street, died July 1, 2011, at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affits Medical Center of Mountain Home, Tenn. from a short battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 13, 1935, in Bristol, Va., he was the son of the late Jesse and Rexie McDavid Tolbert. Huger Tolbert was a former employee of Univac, and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two infant sisters; his in-laws, Paul and Margaret Smith Hanshew and an infant granddaughter, Amanda Keith. Survivors include loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Margaret Hanshew Tolbert; sons, Ronnie Tolbert and Paul Foran; daughters, Mary Jo Tolbert Clark and husband, Thom, of Melbourne, Fla., Elizabeth Tolbert Woods and husband, Tim, of Bristol, Tenn., and Carol Jane Tolbert Keith and husband, Mark, of Castlewood, Va.; grandchildren Jeremy Woods, Tristan, David, Elys Clark and Nakissa Keith; twin great-grandsons, Koletyn and Dalten Keith; sisters, Edna Tolbert White and husband, Don, of St. Albans, W.Va., Shirley Ann Salyer and Alice Hillard; brother, Walter "Bud" Tolbert of Bristol; sister-in-laws, Peggy and husband, TJ Barnes, San Antonio, Texas, Ann and husband, Jerry Slagle, of Kingsport, Tenn., and Betty Hanshew of Mantau, Ohio; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; and his very special little dog, Bridgett. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at 8 p.m. in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel the Rev. Bob Yates will be officiating. The burial will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Glenwood Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6-7:45 p.m. prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Woods, Tristan Clark, David Clark, Randy Slagle, Jerry Slagle and Shane Kitsmiller. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Woods, Mark Keith, Walter "Bud" Tolbert and Dennis Patrick.
