Jack Kreischer, 91, of Syracuse, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 30, 2011. Born September 25, 1919, he was the son of John L. and Mary E. Kreischer. As an orchestra leader and a purveyor of fine meats, he helped many Syracusans celebrate joyous occasions. Music was Jack's life-long passion. He began his professional music career as a young teenager and for over 50 years his orchestras enlivened thousands of dances and other social events. In his last years he loved entertaining others with his saxophone as he drew from his memory virtually any song requested. Jack's meat business served many of the finest restaurants in Syracuse and he referred to himself a "purveyor of fine meats and orchestras". His keen insights into the restaurant business and his high standards of product quality supported the success of many Syracuse chefs. He will be remembered for his indomitable spirit and willingness to reach out to others, inspiring them with his kind spirit to overcome their life-challenges. He is predeceased by his sisters, Janet Evans and Jane Edinger. Jack is survived by his children, Jack (Lynn) Kreischer and Susan (Anthony) Maiello; grandchildren, Jennifer Kreischer, Brian (Sarah) Kreischer, Carol (Daniel) DeVany and Nancy Maiello. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, 11 a.m. at Pebble Hill Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call before the service from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church, 5299 Jamesville Road, Dewitt, NY 13214. PIRRO & SONS FUNERAL HOME is in care of arrangements. Contributions may be made in Jack's memory to Pebble Hill Presbyterian Church, 5299 Jamesville Road De Witt, NY 13214.
