FORT ASHBY,WEST VIRGINIA -- Lewis J. Ganoe Sr., 67, of Fort Ashby, died Friday, Nov. 6, 1998, at the Moran Manor Nursing Home.
Born March 19, 1931, in Points, he was the son of the late Melvin J. and Gertrude (Lewis) Ganoe. He also was preceded in death by his sister, Ann G. Barnes.
Mr. Ganoe was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Al Packer's Automobiles, where he had been a mechanic and truck driver. He was Methodist by faith. He belonged to the VFW Post 1101, Romney; American Legion Post 91, Romney; and Amvets, Cresaptown, Md.
Survivors include his wife, Wortley Ganoe; four sons, Lewis J. Ganoe Jr., Frederick, Ralph J. Ganoe and John Ganoe, both of Wheaton, and Dean Ganoe, Frederick; one brother, Louden Ganoe, Lewes, Del.; three granddaughters; and special friend and companion, Jean Hawkins and family.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Monday from 10 a.m. to noon.
The funeral service will be held Monday at noon with the Rev. Dallas Forren officiating.
Interment will follow in the Branch Mountain Cemetery, Three Churches.
