Adele J. Marchal, 94, of Versailles, passed away at 5:25 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Versailles Health Care Center.

Adele was born May 29, 1915, in Russia, to the late Peter Thirion and Augusta (Monnin) Thirion Paulus.

Adele was a homemaker and helped her husband farm. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Frenchtown and the Versailles Senior Citizens.

In addition to her parents, Adele also was preceded in death by her stepfather, William Paulus; husband, Paul N. Marchal; grandson, Adam Marchal; stepbrothers, Charles and Bob Paulus; and stepsister, Lucille Coffield.

Adele is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Janice Marchal of Versailles, Victor and Deborah Marchal of Lake Worth, Fla., Russell Marchal of Versailles and Frank and Colleen Marchal of Greenville; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Kenneth Wilker of Celina; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; half brother, Edwin Paulus of Oklahoma; and stepsister, Theola Raterman of Dayton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Frenchtown, with the Rev. Fr. David Vincent celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Family Church Cemetery in Frenchtown.

The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday and from 9-10 a.m. Monday at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Adam Marchal Memorial Scholarship Fund, Versailles Emergency Medical Services or donor's choice.
