Slater
Former Carrollton resident Bidwell Slater, 79, of Tylertown, Miss., died Thurday, May 11, 2006, at his residence.
A native of Jefferson Davis County, he was the son of Charlie L. Slater and Pearlie (Berry) Slater. He married Vena Stevens, and she preceded him in death. He later married June, and she survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife, June, are one daughter, Rebecca Pousson of Beaumont, Tex.; one son, Stephen Slater of Beaumont, Tex.; six grandchildren; one brother, Ben Slater of Prentiss, Miss., and one sister, Kay Christianous of Corpus Christi, Tex.
An infant son, Gary Slater, preceded him in death.
Mr. Slater resided in Carrollton for a number of years and still owns property there. He retired from the Alton Police Department.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Saulters-Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Prentiss, Miss., with the Rev. Charles Burnham officiating. Interment followed in the Slater Cemetery in New Hebron.
Casketbearers were Warren Russell Slater, Warren D. Slater, Louis Joe Brooks, Reuben Reid Lott, Hugh Duckworth, and Roger Slater.

Bidwell Slater
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 13, 2006 at Saulters-Moore Funeral Home Chapel, in Prentiss, Miss., for Mr. Bidwell Slater, age 79, of Tylertown, who died at his residence on May 11. Rev. Charles Burnham officiated. Interment followed in the Slater Cemetery in New Hebron.
Pallbearers were: Warren Russell Slater, Warren D. Slater, Louis Joe Brooks, Reuben Reid Lott, Hugh Duckworth and Roger Slater.

He was retired from the Alton, Illinois Police Department. He loved to fly airplanes; to watch ducks fly over and to remodel houses for resale.
