She was born in 1842 to the High Chieftess Analea Keohokâlole and the High Chief Caesar Kapaʻakea. She was a younger sister of Moses Kapaakea, James Kaliokalani, David Kalâkaua, and Lydia Kamakaʻeha, and the older sister of Kaiminaauao, Miriam K. Likelike and William Pitt Leleiohoku II.

She died young and was buried in the Kalākaua Crypt at the Royal Mausoleum of Hawaii. Her younger sister Likelike named her daughter after her. Her niece, Victoria Kaʻiulani became Hawaii's crown princess but died aged 23.
