U.S. Congressman. Moving with his parents to Ohio, in 1810, he went on to be Mayor of Fremont, in 1830 and was probate judge of Sandusky County, for several terms. Being commissioned Major General of the Ohio State Militia in 1834, he commanded Ohio forces in the Toledo War, in 1835. After the war, he was Postmaster of Lower Sandusky, (1838-41) a member of the Ohio State House of Representatives, (1844-45) and again Mayor of Fremont, (1845-46). On January 7, 1851, he was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-first Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Amos E. Wood, serving until March 3, 1851. After leaving office, he was probate judge of Sandusky County, (1852-55, 58-63).
