2007 obituary. PITTSTON -- Hazel L. Matson, 87, of Pittston died peacefully in her sleep after a brief illness on Jan. 19, 2007, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. She was born March 27, 1919, the daughter of Maurice and Avis Martin. She died surrounded by her family. She will always be in our hearts. She is survived by her husband, Forrest Matson, who simply adored her and gave her the life she deserved, full of love and happiness. They were married 34 years. She is also survived by three sons, Gary Jackson and his companion, Jacki, of Gardiner, Larry Jackson and his wife, Bonnie, of Augusta, and Carl Jackson Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Pittston; four daughters, Patty Hustus and her husband, Larry, of Pittston, Joyce Martin and her husband, Rudy, of Farmingdale, Carolyn Moody of Pittston and Merlene Fyfe and husband, Conrad, of Pittston; two sisters, Helen Moody of Lewiston and Glenis Moody of Gardiner; two brothers, David and his wife, Lula, of Richmond, and Leslie of Randolph; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren, too many to count. She loved them all, but she had special place in her heart for her grandson, Reggie Brann, who spent much time being with her, loving her, sharing stories with her and caring for her and enjoying her laughter, which we will all miss. There will be a private committal service for immediate family on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 10 a.m. at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
