Mrs. Nellie Mae Combs born July 6, 1917 departed this life on Thursday June 30, 2011 at the Kentucky River Medical Center in Jackson, Ky being 93-years, 11-months, and 24-days of age at the time of her passing. Nellie was born in Lee County the daughter of the late Charlie Newman and the late Eva Ross Newman. Nellie was also preceded in death by her Husband – Ulysses Grant Combs, Daughter – Karen Sue Combs, Two Sons – Harold and Bobby Combs. Nellie was born and raised in Lee County, lived in Covington, Ky for over Forty Years, and then returned to Lee County for her remaining years. Nellie was a member of the Church of Christ in Covington, Ky and the Church of Christ in Delvinta. Mrs. Nellie Mae Combs leaves the following relatives surviving: Three Sons – Larry R. Perkins & Ellena of Louisville, Ky; Glenn Combs & Sandra of Independence, Ky and Ted Combs & Loretta of Hebron, Ky; Three Daughters – Carol Joseph & Bill of Busy, Ky; Lois Durbin of Niceville, Florida and Wilma Baker of Beattyville, Ky; One Sister – Avadean Underwood of Pekin, Indiana; 11-Grandchildren, 10-Great Grandchildren and 3-Great Great Grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends survive. Funeral Services for Mrs. Nellie Mae Combs will be conducted on Sunday July 3, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home on East Main Street with Troy Smith Officiating; The Burial will follow in the Cornett Cemetery in Upper Second Creek. The Visitation will be at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:00 till 3:00 P.M.
