Aloysius T. "Al" Dohman, 82, of West Point, passed away at 2:24 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011, at the Kensington in Fort Madison.
Born March 26, 1929, at Fort Madison, Iowa, he was the son of Aloysius C. and Marie Fraune Dohman. On April 16, 1955, at Houghton, Iowa, he married Martha R. Panther.
Survivors include his wife Martha Dohman of West Point, Iowa, eight sons Dan (Deanna) Dohman of West Point, Iowa, Paul (Jan) Dohman of West Point, Iowa, Ed (Teresa) Dohman of West Point, Iowa, Vince Dohman of West Point, Iowa, Jeremy (Julie) Dohman of West Point, Iowa, Steve (Renae) Dohman of Fort Madison, Iowa, Ted Dohman of West Liberty, Iowa, Tom (Jana) Dohman of Waukee, Iowa, five daughters Peggy (Warren) Rickelman of Fort Madison, Iowa, Teresa (Allen) Wellington of Fort Madison, Iowa, Patty (Kent) Rubey of Montrose, Iowa, Angie (Jeff) Heald of West Burlington, Iowa, Jenny Dohman of Donnellson, Iowa, 26 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, one sister Betty Mae (Quentin) Chesnut of Homestead, California, one stepsister Sr. Phylis Price of St. Louis, Missouri, one brother-in-law Norman Parker of Lee's Summit, Missouri, and several nieces and nephews.
Al was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, the VFW, the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, and NARVRE. He served as counselor of the Columbian Squires, and on the Cemetery Committee for St. Mary's Catholic Church. He worked as a Santa Fe Railroad Engineer for 42 years. Al served in the 724th TROB Army in the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953. He attended Central Catholic School in Fort Madison. Al was very patriotic and loved fishing, mushroom hunting, gardening, woodworking, and was a diehard Chicago Cub & Bear fan.
Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in West Point with full military rites by the West Point American Legion Post #668.
