A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Teutopolis. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Teutopolis. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today, June 27, at Hall Funeral Chapel, Effingham, with a 5 p.m. Council of Catholic Women Rosary and a 6:30 p.m. parish wake service. Mary was born Aug. 7, 1920, in Shelby County, the daughter of Bernard and Anna Will Hoene. She married John Ordner on Dec. 29, 1942, at St Michael's Catholic Church, Sigel, and he preceded her in death on June 22, 2005.
She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Teutopolis, St. Francis Council of Catholic Women and the Franciscan Third Order. Mary was a very sweet, kind woman who never had an enemy or bad word to say about anyone. She was very devoted to her family and God and a very selfless, caring lady. Mary lived as the truly Christian person God wanted her to be, known to many as a living "Saint."
Surviving are her four sons, Ronald of Mattoon, Robert (Jane) of Teutopolis, Thomas (Susan) of Sigel and James (Jeanne) of Teutopolis; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two expectant great-grandchildren; sister, Ida Hille of Effingham; brother, Richard "Dick" Hoene of Teutopolis; and two sisters-in-law, Frances Hoene and Mary Hoelscher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; sister, Stella Donsbach; brothers, Clarence (Shorty) Hoene and Leonard Hoene; and grandson, Tommy Ordner.
