Ben E. Herendon, 80, of Harrison, TN went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 30, 2011. A native of Murray County, GA he served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.
Ben was a long-time resident of Chattanooga, TN and retired from Arnold Palmer Group.
He was a former member of Chamberlain Memorial Baptist church and a present member of Delashmitt Road Baptist Church.
He was an avid farmer and golfer. He was preceded in death by his youngest brother, Clyde Herndon.
Ben is survived by his wife of 24 years, Evelyn Harbison Herendon; five children, Leavone (Robert) Orchard, Randall (Vanessa) Herendon, Keith (Dottie) Herendon, Dean (Kim) Herendon and Brian (Shana) Harbison; former daughter-in-law, Linda Herendon; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Larry and Sam Johnson.
Services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Smith officiating.
Burial will be private at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 2411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
Arrangements are by Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist, North Chapel, Hixson, TN.
