AGE: 81 TOMS RIVER
Edward Kasyan Sr., 81, of Toms River, died Saturday, Nov. 1, at Kensington Manor Care Center, Toms River. Born in Jersey City, he lived there most of his life before moving to Toms River in 1963. He was employed as a Civil Rights Investigator for the State of New Jersey for 24 years before his retirement in 1992. Prior to that, he worked as one of the last Mounted Police Officers for the Jersey City Police Department from 1950-1963. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was multi-talented, enjoying baseball, basketball, football, golf, fishing, clamming, crabbing, swimming, wood working and home improvement projects.
He was predeceased by his son, Edward Jr., in August 2008. A devoted husband, he is survived by his wife of 60 years, Christina Christiani Kasyan; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Judy of Bayville, Berkeley, and Christopher and Ellen of Toms River; and his beloved grandchildren, William, Emily, and John.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today and 9 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Carmona-Bolen Home For Funerals, 412 Main St., Toms River. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Toms River. Burial will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
