Mr. Bruner W. Martin, Jr., age 76, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Monday, September 13, 2004, in New Orleans, LA. Mr. Martin was born on August 2, 1928, in Ocean Springs, MS. He graduated from Ocean Springs High School in 1943. He served in the United States Army for two years during which time he fought in the Korean War. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1961, and then received his Master's degree in Mathematics from William Carey College in 1976. He was an educator in the Jackson County School System with St. Martin schools for 30 years where he retired in 1990. Mr. Martin was a member of Big Ridge Baptist Church in D'Iberville,, MS., where he had served as Sunday School Superintendent and as a deacon for a number of years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bruner W. Martin, Sr., and Nora Frances Woodman Martin. Bruner is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gaylia Ann Martin, one son, Douglas W. Martin, two daughters, Nancy B. Bawcum and husband, Robert W. Bawcum, Jr., and Phyllis A. Martin, four grandchildren, Robert, Bradley, Emily and Timothy Bawcum, two sisters, Rita M. Steelman and Mary F. Fazzio, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Monday, September 20, 2004, from 9:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M., with an 11 AM Church Service, all at Big Ridge Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Biloxi National Cemetery. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.2004 The Sun Herald
