Aurora Carmen Bovard, 90, of Blackwell OK, passed away Friday, March 6, 2009, at Ponca City Medical Center in Ponca City OK. She was born May 26, 1918, in Ledoux NM to Juan and Maraquieta[sic] Leyba Valdez.

Aurora grew up and attended school in Ledoux NM. Before moving to Blackwell 1975, she lived in Denver CO, Portland OR, and Cheyenne WY. Aurora married Winiferd Glen Bovard on October 5, 1946; and they celebrated 29 years of marriage before his death. She attended the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Blackwell where she was a member of the Altar and the Rosary Society until failing health restricted her activities. She loved to travel. She enjoyed spending time with her church family and friends. Most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren.

Family members include her sons Jimmy Valdez of Cheyenne WY, Vernon Paulson of Aguilar CO, and Ted Bovard of Bartlesville OK; daughter Mary Elizabeth Tridz of Leadville CO; sister Nilla Sandoval of Melborne FL; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sons Harry and Glen Bovard; brother Eloy Valdez; and sisters Betty Soriano, Rosa Umaly, Margaret Trujillo, and Rosila Valdez.
