She said she was visiting her sister and they were at a fair and a young man came by and asked if he could take her home. She told her sister to tell him no. But when James (Young) came and asked her she told her sister to say yes.
They were married when she was 14 years old and said she should have been turned over someones lap and whipped. When they were coming to Texas they had a little baby and $20.00. She gave James the $20 to go buy some diapers for the baby but he gave the money to a man to go buy them for him. The man never came back. He had to cut cord wood for them to have anything to eat.
