Constance Lea "Connie" Corrigan, 70, of rural Mendon, died at 1:36 p.m. Sunday (June 5, 2011) in her home.

Connie was born Nov. 5, 1940, in Quincy, a daughter of Richard and Doris Adair Cornwell of rural Ursa. She married to Ray Corrigan on May 27, 1958, in Corinth, Miss. He survives.

She was a 1958 graduate of Unity High School in Mendon, where she was a cheerleader and homecoming queen her senior year. Her faith in Jesus was unwavering, having been an active member of Loraine Christian Church where she served for more than 50 years.

Throughout her life, Connie was many things to many people: loving daughter, cherished wife, hard-working farmer, caring mother, unfailing friend and doting grandmother and great-grandmother. Her greatest role, however, was to be a true child of God. Her kindness and charity touched the lives of all who knew her, and many who didn't.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her mother, Doris Cornwell; three siblings, Dennis, Alan and Brian Cornwell; four children, Mark (Carol) Corrigan of rural Mendon, Stacy (Mike) Chapman of rural Loraine, Brent Corrigan of rural Mendon and Tony Corrigan of rural Mendon; 14 grandchildren, Ray Gray, Luke (Jessica) Gray, Christi (Craig) Phillips, Daron Gray, Kelly (Bobby) Baker, Ashley (Billy) Shipley, Travis Corrigan, Amanda (Robert) Adcock, Amos Chapman, Caleb Corrigan, Noah Corrigan, Seth Corrigan, Hannah Corrigan and Levi Corrigan; and six great-grandchildren, Lily Baker, Kai Phillips, Adler Gray, Dantae Shipley, Alexandra Phillips and Kinsey Baker.

Connie was preceded in death by her father, Richard Cornwell; a brother, Lyle Cornwell; a sister-in-law; and a stillborn son.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Thursday in the Hunter Funeral Home, Mendon, with Russell Corrigan conducting. Burial will be in Curless Cemetery near Loraine.

VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, to Blessing Foundation for Hospice or Shiloh Christian Children's Ranch.

ARRANGEMENTS: Hunter Funeral Home, Mendon.
