Valenta Maurine McReynolds Pinkner, age 93, of Texarkana, Texas, died Thursday, April 28, 2011 in Texarkana.

Mrs. Pinkner was born on May 26, 1917, in Frederick, Oklahoma. She graduated from Central State Teachers College in Edmond, OK and attended New York University. She served as Executive Director of Camp Fire Girls in Shawnee, Ok. On December 7, 1940, she married Dr. Joe Pinkner, who served in the US Navy as a Dentist in New Caledonia and Guadacanal. After their two children graduated from High School, she began her teaching career at Texas High School. There she developed the Reading Lab and loved teaching for 23 years. She was an active member of Central Christian Church where she taught Sunday school classes for many years.

Mrs. Pinkner was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, in 1980, her mother, Gussie Green of Oklahoma City, and two brothers, John and Stanley McReynolds of Oklahoma City.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Bobby and Evelyn Pinkner of Texarkana, TX; one daughter and son-in-law, Val and Don Harter of Richardson, TX; one grandson, Greg Pinkner and wife, Jennifer of Knoxville, TN; three granddaughters, Holly Coleman and husband Chris, of Plano, TX; Paige Walbeck and husband, Scottie, of Texarkana, TX; Misty Meadows and husband, Bryan, of Pleasanton, TX; seven great grandchildren, Hunter and Kale Walbeck; Hunter, Addison and Faye Coleman; and Aislyn and Wayte Meadows.

Memorial services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Monday at the Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas Chapel with her grandson, the Rev. Greg Pinkner officiating. Visitation will follow services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
