Fred Ashworth, 89 of Pedro, Ohio, passed away on June 2, 2010 surrounded by family. Born June 3, 1920 in Decatur, Ohio to the late George and Luvada Massie Ashworth.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Vera Cade Ashworth and Shirley Sutton Samples Ashworth.

Brothers, Vincent Ashworth, Burl Ashworth, Woodrow (Pete) Ashworth, George Ashworth.

Sisters, Vern Hannaberry, Stella Wiseman, Emma Donagan, Odessa Fox, Lotus Harner, Ruby Todd, Sylvia Arbaugh, Gladys Ashworth and Sara Ashworth.

A step granddaughter: Carrie Jenkins

He is survived by his children:

daughter: Sharline Ashworth Blankenship and her husband, Larry

Fred was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. He retired from the C&O Railroad as an Engineer (41 years) and a proud World War II Veteran awarded the Purple Heart for combat wounded. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 51. A member of the Farmers Association Bee Keepers of America, and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

Funeral service was at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Greg Frasure and Rev. Homer Campbell officiating. Burial followed in Macedonia Cemetery.
