which occurred Saturday night, Feb.
17th, at 10 o'clock at his home on
East Main street after a compataively
Brief Illness came to the
community as a shock, and is deeply
regretted by all.
He was born in the town of Burke,
and began life, as a traveling salesman. Several years ago he started in business on East Main street, cor-
ner of Clay, founding the well known
business house of "Greene's." Mr.
Greene, was a bright, tactful busi-
ness man and under his management
the business which was varied began
rapidly to grow and expanded. He
was the Edison representative for
the County and did a large business
in handling phonographs. Mr.
Greene was still planning for large
activities and for a regular city Department
house when taken ill.
His death is a distinctive loss to
the business activities of Malone, as
it is men of his type who dare to do
things when the opportunity arises,
Such men attract attention, draw
trade and have the faculty of putting
things across, and when they pass
away are a loss to the community.
Mr. Greene, was companionable and
liked by his friends and acquaintances
and his death in the prime of
life is a blow to this part of the state.
