Elsbeth was the oldest of two children born to Charles Bettys and Estella M. (Short) McFerrin. Her younger brother was Philip whose son was Charles B. McFerrin Wissler. Elsbeth's grandparents were Charles M. and Rachel E. (Mitten) Short. Her great grandparents were William and Rachael T. (Shaw) Mitten.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Orlando, Sorosis, a Realtor, a PTA officer locally and on a state level, and served on several committees for the City of Orlando. She was predeceased by her husband, Carlisle N. Prather, and daughter, Elaine P. O'Donnell. Survivors include her sons, Carlisle N. Prather, Jr., Charles N. Prather and his wife Suzi, all of Orlando; grandchildren are, William O'Donnell, Jr., Karen O. Enck, Diane O. Engel, Daniel P. O'Donnell, Mary Beth O'Donnell, Kathy Francisco and her husband John and Nathan Dawson. She has nine great-grandchildren. Memorial Service will be held Friday, Jan. 31st at First United Methodist Church of Orlando at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, Orlando.
