He was born on January 11, 1955 in Watseka, IL to Ora and Betty (Campbell) Scott. He married Kim (Smith) Scott on August 30, 1986. She survives.
Also surviving are nine children, Timothy Scott, Jeanie Arce, Jimmy Lee Scott Jr., and Eric Scott, all of Arkansas, Kenneth Purtle and Laura Purtle, both of Canton, Brandon Scott of Galesburg, Jamie Woodruff of MO, and Contessa Anderson of Pekin; two brothers, Stan Scott of Kewanee and Bob Scott of Peoria; four sisters, Barbara Ann Mackey of Canton, Pat Peirce of Canton, Candy Whestine of Dunfermline, and Shirley Kay Rittkema of VA; and twenty-four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Rust Scott; two brothers, Ora "Sonny" Scott and Thomas Butch Scott; and one sister, Barbara Jean.
Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the 101st Airborne Division. He was a truck driver, retiring in December of 2003 due to health problems. He enjoyed working on cars, and together with his wife, they owned Scott's Extreme Motor Sports.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, with Rev. Kevin VanTine officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following funeral services.
