Roy Allen Carter, 80, died March 25, 2001, of natural causes at his Klamath Falls residence.
Mr. Carter was born Nov. 30, 1920, in Rossville, Iowa, to John and Myrtle (Winters) Carter.
He was raised in Iowa and worked there as a mechanic and farm hand.
He joined the Navy in 1942, serving during World War II as a motor machinist's mate first class.
After his discharge from military service in 1945, he returned to farm work.
His wife, the former Zonna Dahms, who he married in Iowa before joining the Navy, preceded him in death in 1990 and he moved to Klamath Falls from Arizona to be with his daughter, Dianne. She took care of him for more than 10 years.
Mr. Carter enjoyed crossword puzzles, fishing, watching television, and ordering things through the mail.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Moose Lodge, and the American Legion.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Ron Collman of Klamath Falls; sons, Allen Carter of Tucson, Ariz., and Larry Carter of Olympia, Wash.; and grandchildren, Ron Collman Jr. of Klamath Falls, Paul and David Carter of Arizona, and Troy and Kim Carter of Olympia.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
