Julia Blanche Hanson, 81, a resident of the Glenham, South Dakota area for 64 years, died Thursday, November 29, 1973, at the Mobridge Community Hospital following a long illness. Burials was in the Norway Lutheran Church cemetery.

Mrs. Hanson worked as a news correspondent for the Mobridge Tribune, Selby Record and other area newspapers for many years. She also wrote numerous feature stories of life in this area and was an authority on early history of the area, frequently using items in her stories.

Mrs. Hanson was born January 23, 1892 at the early town of Bovine, then located about 20 miles West of Pierre. When a small child, she moved with her parents to a farm in the Evarts area southeast of Mobridge. When she was 12, the family moved to a farm North of Mobridge where she lived until her marriage. She was married to Ingval Hanson on June 30, 1909, at Mound City and they made their home on a farm North of Glenham. About 25 years ago they moved to Mobridge for a time and then moved into Glenham.

Mrs. Hanson was a charter member of both the Glenham Garden Club and the Mobridge Northern Oahe Historical Society.

Survivors are two sons, Harry Hanson of Gordon, Nebraska, and Albert Hanson of Mobridge; two daughters, Ruth (Mrs. Lewis) Johnson of Mobridge and Lou Etta (Mrs. Gordon) Henrichsen of Dallas, Texas; 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Josephine Arnold, her husband Ingval, two brothers and two sisters.
