Married Emily Jane "Emma" Wagner on 6 Mar 1867 in McLean County, Illinois. Preceded in death by his son George. Survived by his wife, sons William, Harrison County Iowa, Harry, Peotone, Illinois, Josiath, Denver, Colorado; daughters Nettie King and Eunice Kemp, of Loda, Illinois, Emma Passwaters, and Grace Melby, Paxton, Illinois
