When he was 24 years old, he enlisted as a Musician on 07 Sep 1861 and mustered into his
Regiment on the same date. He was discharged for disability on 03 Nov 1862. He reenlisted as
a Private on 02 May 1864 and mustered into Co. F, 163rd Ohio Infantry. He was mustered out
of the 163rd at Camp Chase, Ohio on 10 Sep 1864.
