Frances “Fran” Spears, age 92, of Avery, passed away at Hospice of Texarkana, Friday, March 15, 2019. Fran was born, March 14, 1927, in Deport, to Byron and Annie House Allen. She was a member of Avery First Baptist Church and was a member of the Eastern Star. Fran retired from Lonestar Army Ammunition Plant. She was preceded in death by her husband Sam Spears and numerous siblings.

Survivors include, three sons, Ed Stephenson and Ann of Avery, Gerald Stephenson and Lynn of Avery and Dean Stephenson of Dallas; daughter Pam Vega and John of Rockwall; sister Lou and Robert Coleman of Quitman; brothers Mahlon “Uncle Slick” Allen and Christine of Caddo Mills, Raymond Allen and Jody of Powderly and Byron Allen of Texarkana; four grandchildren Amanda, Kaylynne, Chelsea Wetmore and husband Brent and Tyler; one great grandson Landon.

Pallbearers are Mike Welch, Mike Morris, Dennis Morgan, Mark Storey, Ricky Burleson and David Joyner.

Serving as Honorary Pallbearer are Doug Gortney and Billy Hardman.

Services will be Sunday, March 17, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Avery First Baptist Church with Bro. Paul Burkhalter and Bro. Harold Churchill officiating. Burial will follow in the Avery Cemetery.
