Robert H. "Bob" Jordan Sr., 76, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday March 8, 2008 at Cathedral of the Epiphany Catholic Church, with the Revs. Paul-Louis Arts and Al McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Harty-McNally Post 175. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Friday March 7, 2008, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Bob was born Jan. 8, 1932, in Belden, Neb., the son of Edward and Gertrude (Abts) Jordan. He was raised on a farm near Hubbard, Neb., and had lived in Sioux City since 1950. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict from 1952 to 1955.

He married Phyllis Welch on Nov. 24, 1956, in Akron, Iowa. He worked for Swift and Co. for 19 years, Beane Plumbing and Heating for 13 years and Lefkow Supply and Holy Family School System, retiring in 1999.

He was a member of Cathedral of the Epiphany Catholic Church and the South Sioux City Fraternal Order of the Eagles Club. He was a member of the American Legion Harty-McNally Post 175 and served as vice commander and in the honor guard. He was a member of the Family Campers and RVer's Association since 1965 and had held several positions. He was a founding member of the Woodbury Woodies. He enjoyed traveling, camping, dancing, whittling walking canes and sharing Oreo cookies with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Phyllis of Sioux City; four children, Rae Jordan of Seattle, Wash., Robert Jordan Jr. of Thornton, Colo., Julie A. and her husband, Pat Graham of High Ridge, Mo., and Vicki and her husband, Shad Swedlund of Brookings, S.D.; 10 grandchildren, Zach Jordan and his wife, Kandi, Aaron and Elainna Jordan, Stephanie, Samantha and Seth Swedlund, Austin Henry, Michael, Sean and Ryan Graham; two great-grandchildren, Adrianna Jordan and Jacob Graham; a brother and his wife, William "Bill" and Joan Jordan Sr. of Sioux City; three sisters, Leona Ringler, Delilah Fuehrer and Jeanette and her husband, Merle Woolworth, all of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Patricia Jordan of Mount Lake, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Elaine; and a brother, Edward.

Pallbearers will be Zach, Aaron and Mike Jordan, Austin Henry, Stephanie Swedlund and Nick Schekleberg.
