Jim "Grumpy" Golden, 73, of De Leon, passed away on June 25, 2011 at Comanche County Medical Center. He was born on April 16, 1938 to Robert Lee Golden and Sallie Byrd Coan in DeLeon. He married Peggy Golden on August 18, 1965 in Odessa, Texas.

Jim loved fishing, golfing, motorcycles, horse racing, high school football, writing poetry and participating in 5k runs. He loved his family dearly and was especially close to his children, Pam Golden Clark and Calvin Lee Golden. He was a member of the Eastland VFW and a veteran of both the United States Army and United States Navy. He was a retired pole line contractor and line superintendent for Comanche County Electric Company.

He is survived by his daughter, Pam Clark and husband Randall of Comanche; son, Calvin Golden and wife Robbie of Arlington; grandchildren, Kori Sides and husband Ryan of De Leon and Kyle Clark and wife Amanda of Lubbock; great-grandchildren, Harrison Sides and Hatton Sides; and extended family.

Jim was preceded by his wife, Peggy Golden; parents, Robert Lee Golden and Sallie Byrd Coan; brothers, Therman "Bull" Golden, Robert Lee "Bob" Golden and Melvin Golden; and sisters, Aza Lee Allen and Beth Curtis.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home in DeLeon. Minister Don Rollins will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Randy Denning, Bobby Gye Emfinger, Shane Tucker, Labin Scott, Duke Ausburne, George Campbell and Kendall Keith. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Moylan, Wayne Setzler, Tommy Frost and Dr. Forrest Eisenrich. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Comanche County. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Comanche County Medical Center or Whitestone Assisted Living of Comanche.
