CHAFIN RITES SET IN BURKE
MORGANTON – Edward Palmer Chafin, 80-year-old watchmaker of Morganton, died in Grace hospital here at 2 p.m. Tuesday following a six-day illness.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the Kirksey Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Homer Messer officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church cemetery in the Chesterfield section of Burke county.
Mr. Chafin was twice married, first to the former Callie Coffey and then to the former Katie Wolfe. Both are deceased.
Surviving Mr. Chafin are one daughter, Lizzie; one half-sister, Mrs. J. C. Hallyburton of Morganton, and one half-brother, Raymond Barber of Gastonia. He was born in Burke County April 5, 1877.
