Heinrich Frederick Wilhelm ("Henry") was the oldest of 13 children born to Ernst Friedrich Wilhelm Meyer and Anna Marie Elizabeth Pohlmann in Lindorfin, Hanover, Germany. The family immigrated to the United States 22 May 1882 and settled near Clatonia in Gage County.

On 7 Oct 1897, in Gladstone, Nebraska, Henry married Florentina Marie ("Flora") Melcher. They farmed first in Jefferson county and then in Thayer County, Nebraska. They were the parents of five children:
Anna Maria Karoline, who married Willian Knapper
David Ernest, who married Pauline Wiegert
Cora Maria Florentine, who married Emil Schoen
Lina Florentine, who died at the age of 1 yr 9 months in Oct 1910 at Jansen in Jefferson County
Mathilda, who died at the age of 3 months in Feb 1912 at Jansen.

When they retired from farming, they moved to Fairbury, Nebraska.

Death of Henry F. Meyer

Henry F. Meyer of Fairbury, Nebr., passed away Friday, March 2, 1951 at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 24 days. For the past year, Mr. Meyer had been in very poor health.
Henry Frederick Wilhelm Meyer, son of Ernst and Anna Pohlmann Meyer, was born near Lindorf, Hanover, Germany, on September 6, 1873. When eight years old he came to the United States with his parents, settling on a farm near Clatonia, Nebraska, in March of 1882. He grew to manhood in the Jansen community.
On October 7, 1897, he married Flora Melcher at Gladstone, Nebr., and to them five children were born, two preceding him in death.
After their marriage they lived on a farm in the Jansen-Plymouth community for 13 years, moving to near Gladstone, where Mr. Meyer was engaged in farming until 1928, when he retired and moved to Fairbury.
He had been a member of the Grace Lutheran church for the past 23 years.
Surviving are three children, Anna, Mrs. Wm. Knapper of Gilead, David of Gillead and Cora, Mrs. Emil Schoen of Oxford, Nebr.; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and eight brothers, Frank of Deshler, Ernst of Fairbury, Herman and August of Jansen, John of Longmont, Colo., Chris of Allertown, Iowa, Otto of Fairbury, and George of Flagler, Colo. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death and Mrs. Meyer passed away last May.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Laipply's chapel and at Grace Lutheran church with the pastor, Rev. R. L. Schlecht, officiating. Burial in the West Gladstone cemetery.
