Mrs. Beatrice Lehman Turner departed this life peacefully on June 25, 2011 in Crockett, Texas at the age of 93. She was born on September 21, 1917 in Cuero, Texas, the youngest child of William and Earnestine Lehman. In 1939, she met and married William Turner, who came to Cuero as a surveyor with Shell Oil Company. While her husband was in the Army and later working for Shell, Bea and Bill lived in numerous cities around the country. In 1946, their son, Jim, was born at an army base in Fort Lewis, Washington. A few years later, the young family moved to Crockett, where Bill joined his father in his construction business.

Bea worked beside her husband throughout his career. She was a bookkeeper in the family business, Turner Hardware & Construction. She spent many years working at Turner Hardware, taking on any task. Always the ready grandmother, she kept a baby crib in her office for her beloved John and Susan.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church for over 50 years, volunteering in the church library and nursery, and teaching Sunday School. She played an integral part in Jim's political races, traveling around Texas to campaign for her son. She had enduring friendships with the women in her sewing club, a group that enjoyed each other's company for decades. Bea and Bill were faithful Texas Aggie fans and regulars at Kyle Field home games.

Beatrice Turner is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jim Turner and wife, Ginny of Crockett and McLean, Virginia; grandchildren: John Turner and wife, Jenia of Dallas; Susan Turner Nold and husband, Danny of Austin; great-grandchildren: William Turner and Philip Turner of Dallas; Ginger Nold, and Danny Nold, Jr. of Austin. Also her sister-in-law, Corine Collins of Crockett. Nieces and nephews: Jeanie Kueker and husband, Jack Warren of San Antonio; Catherine Zilko and husband, Fred of Murrieta, California; Frances Baker and husband, David of Crockett; Carolyn Surles and husband, Brady of Durham, North Carolina; Sandra Bash of Cashiers, North Carolina; Carrie Ballard and husband, Travis of Conroe; Rufus Turner and wife, Elaine of Pasadena, California; Lottie Hollan and husband Neill of Tilden, Texas; and many beloved great-nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful to the most dedicated and loving caregivers, Fern Lufsey, Blanche Frazier, Tina Jones and Ellen Richardson. Also to Willie Anderson, a long-time and loyal employee.

She is preceded in death by her husband of almost 69 years, William A. Turner; parents, William and Earnestine Lehman; brothers: William Lehman, Irvin Lehman and J. C. Lehman; sister, Bernice Lehman Kleinecke; brothers and sisters-in-law, Vera Lehman, Bernice Lehman, Willard Kleinecke, Rufus and Lillie Lee Turner, Billy and Carrie Lively, Alma Sevier, Denny Collins; and niece, Louise Sevier Lack.

Bea Turner was committed to her family, was filled with pride in every accomplishment and was generous to them in countless ways.
