A very sad occurrence took place yesterday afternoon during the storm. Mr.James Pyles, a farmer living 4 miles east of town,
was stacking wheat when the storm came up and was hurrying to get it in a shape to turn water off, when he was struck by lightening
and knocked about twelve feet from the stack killing him instantly, also stunning his son, who was on the stack till he fell off
but not fatally injuring him. The wheat took fire and burned to the ground. Mr Pyles was an influential, industrious, hard working
farmer, and had just accumulated enough to begin to live easy and comfortable. We extend sppathy to the bereaved family.
