H. W. Howard Rites Sunday.,

Funeral services were conducted Sunday in the Church of the Brethren for Hiram W. Howard, 81, who died at the Thomas Memorial hospital, Jan 4, 1952 at 8 a.m. He was preceded in death by his only living brother the day before at 1:30 p.m. Mr Howard was a pioneer of Thomas, homesteading west of Thomas in 1893. He owned the original farm at the time of his death. He was united in marriage to Miss Maggie Otis in 1891 and to this union three children survive. They are Cecil of Thomas; Mrs Inez Helzer of Thomas; and Mrs Viva Urban of Hutchinson, Kansas. A son Vernon, preceded his father in death, and his wife Maggie died in 1903.

In 1907 he was united in marriage to Katherine Urban who survives him.To this union were born seven children, six of who survives him. They are Raymond of Thomas; Joe of Phoenix, Arizona; Antone Le Roy of San Ysedares, California; George of Thomas; Erma Grace Davis of Clinton; and Mrs Mary Calvert of Thomas. One daughter Regina Christina preceded him in death. Also 27 grandchildren and other close relatives and friends mourn his passing.
