Norma Jean Bastin, 74, of Emporia, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at her home.
Norma Jean Dawson, the daughter of Bert and Fannie (Nay) Dawson, was born November 28, 1936 in Clements, Kansas. She married J. Wayne Bastin on January 21, 1955 in Clements. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Craig Bastin and his wife Sandy of Emporia, and Russell Bastin of Wichita, Kansas; a sister, Dorothy Ward and her husband Roger of Temple, Texas; a grandchild, Storm Bastin of Lawrence, Kansas; and a step-granddaughter, Erica Carman of Leavenworth, Kansas.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Fannie Dawson and a brother, Bill Dawson.
She was a bookkeeper at the Emporia Holiday Inn, and was a member of the Emporia Presbyterian Church, United Presbyterian Women, the Wednesday Morning Prayer Group at the church, and she was an avid volunteer for numerous functions at both Emporia Presbyterian Church and Westminster United Presbyterian Church (before they combined).
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Emporia Presbyterian Church West Campus (formerly Westminster United Presbyterian Church). Services will be conducted by Rev. Mike Sorsen of the Emporia Presbyterian Church. The family will meet with friends from 9:00 A.M. until the service time at the church. Cremation will follow the service. Burial will be in the Stoehr Cemetery in Elmdale, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to either Emporia Presbyterian Church, or to Junebug Cancer Foundation. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
