Elizabeth Bennight was the daughter of William Bennight. The family moved to Crawford County, Arkansas where James and Elizabeth married. After two children were born, James joined the Confederate Army during the Civil War, and Elizabeth and her two sons, James and William, walked to Texas after their home was burned.
