Ida B., as she was known to family, was half Osage (father's side of family) and very proud of her Native American heritage, though she rightly was bitter about the treatment of her people in Oklahoma Indian Territory - and the lack of subsequently promised reparations. It was a great pleasure to know her in the last years of her life.

Ida B. was married to Charles Standiford and they had three children: Beatrice GRACE. Elmer Leon, and Hazel M. Around 1930 they were living in DeKalb, MO and took in boarders - including Jim Hurst, who would later become her second husband. Ida B's marriage to Charles Standiford was dissolved around 1931.

Jim and Ida B. were married on April 19, 1941 and spent their married life in DeKalb.

At age 77, and still with naturally coal-black hair, Ida B. fell off the top of her house, which she was re-roofing, and seriously injured herself. She died of complications a few weeks afterward.

My mother recalls that Ida B. had a wonderful old player piano in their home in DeKalb, which delighted her as a youngster.
