Frances Inez Colwell Minor, 87, passed away Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, surrounded by family. Frances was born April 27, 1926, at her country home in Mountain View, Okla., to William Otre and Bessie Mae Sanders Colwell. Frances was known to friends and family in Oklahoma as Inez and later to her Texas friends as Fran. She enjoyed life and loved and served God as a faithful servant. She believed in hard work and was always the first to step up as a volunteer. She lived in the Oakdale community north of Mountain View and attended Oakdale School and graduated from Mountain View High School in 1943. After graduation at the age of 17, she left home and moved to Fort Worth to look for a job. She found work in the Stockyards working for both the Swift and Armour meatpacking plants and various cafes in the area as a waitress. In 1950 she started working for Convair, which later became General Dynamics, building military aircraft and retired after 41 years in 1991. Frances loved to travel and traveled a lot after retirement and devoted a lot of time as an Ombudsman volunteer. She was a 69-year member of the Eastern Star, a lifetime member of The International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers, 11-year ombudsman and a faithful member and servant to Al-Anon. Frances was preceded in death by her parents; and her only sibling, William Barnes "Bill" Colwell. Survivors: Sister-in-law, Mildred Colwell; nephew, Jim William Cowell and wife, Melinda; nephew, John Paul Colwell and wife, Chrissy; niece, Sally Ann Colwell; grandnephew, Paul Bryan Colwell and wife, Stephanie, all of Waxahachie; grandnephew, Philip Morgan Colwell of Fort Worth; grandniece, Chelsea Leann Colwell of College Station; grandnephews, Jacob Chase and William Shane Colwell, both of Waxahachie; and numerous cousins in Texas and Oklahoma
