Sarah Elizabeth Coleman: Obit

Mrs. Sarah E. Coleman Hill, died Friday morning, December 13. She was 82y 3m 6d. Aunt Sallie as she was affectionately called had been sick 3 months. She was buried at Masonic Cemetery. She was born at Sandersville, Georgia, Sept 7, 1819, left an orphan in early age, married at age 16 in 1835 to W. J. Hill at Madisonville, Mississippi. They moved to Texas in 1839, settled in Burleson County about 2 miles from Caldwell and lived here ever since. She had several children, four of whom, 2 sons and 2 daughters are now living. Mrs. W. N. Heslep, Caldwell, T. J. Hill, Caldwell, Mrs. O.W. Chriesman, Deanville and J. L. Hill of Victoria. Two sons were killed in Confederate service in the Civil War. One daughter died here leaving 2 children, Lucius and Nannie Broaddus, who made their home with their grandmother. She was a Methodist Church member for over half century. She along with husband, was one of the organizers of first Methodist Church, Caldwell.
