Upon coming to America, he lived for a time, along with his wife, Anna (Fernbach) Klein, with Jean (John) Fernbach, his brother in law, in Scott Township, Allegheny County, PA. Then he and Anna and their family lived in Collier and Carnegie, PA. He ran a hotel in Carnegie and later went into the meat business.
In addition to the two linked children, John and Anna had John Nicolas Klein and Annie (Klein) Schubert.
