Pete was born February 21, 1943 in Salida, Colorado to Agapito Martinez and Edith Marie Sessions. He passed away June 25, 2010 in Colorado Springs after a 7 year battle with cancer. He leaves behind his son, Peter A. Martinez, III; grandchildren: Summer and Kane Martinez; brothers: Rod (Sue) Martinez of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Mike (Eva) Martinez; sisters: Jan Hambly, Tammy (Byron) Burghart, and Susan Martinez all of Colorado Springs; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his sister, Heidi Lynn Crippen. Pete proudly served in the U.S. Marines. He had also retired from Kissing Camels Golf Course after 37 years. Pete was an avid NASCAR and country music fan. Many thanks to Dr. Matei and the staff at Rocky Mt. Cancer Center and to all the staff at Evercare Hospice. Your help was deeply appreciated. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2010, at the Shrine of Remembrance, America the Beautiful Chapel. A reception at Pete's residence will follow the service. Inurnment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance America the Beautiful Rose Gardens.
