________
DRIVER NOT HELD
________
Frederick Ferguson of Niagara Falls, N.Y. Not Blamed—Inquest However Ordered

Stevensville, Aug. 17—Alice Climenhage, eight-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Climenhage of Snyder, was accidentally killed on Saturday evening about 5 o'clock when struck in front of her home by a car said to be driven by Frederick Ferguson of Niagara Falls, N.Y.

The child, with her young brother, had been to Stevensville and on their way back the pair had been given a ride by a Mr. Hill. He let them down from his car at their home.

Mr. and Mrs. Climenhage had been away for the day and had returned in the absence of the children who, overjoyed to see their parents, ran from behind the Hill car and started to cross the road. However, the girl failed to see the Niagara Falls car approaching from the opposite direction. The machine struck the child who passed away within a few minutes. Both arms and legs were broken and the body was badly mangled.

Constables Tripp and Detenbeck were called but the driver of the American car was not held, the fatality being viewed as accidental. However, the coroner was notified and an inquest was ordered for Thursday morning at 10 a.m.
