Relatives and friends were greatly shocked by the sudden and unexpected death of Mrs. Christian Frederick William Ledebur, at the family home on German Hill, Sunday morning, about ten-thirty. She had been in her usual good health, and was conversing with a neighbor over the telephone, when she sank to the floor and expired within fifteen minutes from heart failure, surrounded by members of her family. Mrs. Ledebur had not complained of any illness, in fact had always seemed in the enjoyment of perfect health, being naturally of a rugged constitution, rarely suffering from sickness. Thus her death was all the more shocking to those about her.

"Dorcas" Blum, daughter of Sebastian and Anna Katharine Mater Blum, deceased, was born on German Hill, where she grew to young womanhood, and where, in June, 1867, she was united in marriage with Mr. Ledebur, and which community had since been her home. She was the mother of sixteen children, thirteen of whom, with the husband of father survive, as follows: Mrs. John M.(Katherine) Zuendel of Starr; William Ledebur of Bradford; Mrs. H.O. (Clara E.) Davis of German Hill; Mrs. E.W. (Amanda) Whaley of Hoballa, Wash.; Mrs. R.C. (Sophia) Davidson of North Yakima, Wash.; Miss Maude of Franklin, Pa.; Conrad E. of Dillon, Montana; Mrs. George (Minnie) Childs and Walter Ledebur of Tionesta; Mrs. James (Alice) Bisker of Oil City; George and Miss Virginia at home, and Mrs. Ernest (Beulah) Devine of Erie. Two brothers, William Blum of German Hill, and Henry Blum of Pigeon Hill, also survive.

Mrs. Ledebur was a woman of noble, Christian virtues, quiet and unassuming in her daily life and intercourse with her neighbors, by whom she was ever held in highest esteem and love. Her domestic life was one of beauty and devotion toward husband and children, for whom no sacrifice was ever too great for her to make and no duty was ever overlooked or left unperformed, and it is doubtful whether any family was ever more considerate of the comfort of mother or held her in greater affection. Surely the relatives, neighbors, and friends of the community in which her whole life was passed have lost heavily in the passing of this excellent woman.

Funeral services in her memory will be held at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, German Hill, Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, and will be conducted by Rev. H.A. Bailey, of the Tionesta Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in the cemetery connected with the church.
