Maple Hill – Frederick S. Banta, aged 76, was born Feb. 22, 1865 and died at his home in Maple Hill Aug. 28. Mr. Banta was married to Hattie Burns on Dec. 4, 1888, and they had eight children. He is survived by three daughters and two sons: Mrs. Ray McDonald and Mrs. Ray Fitzwater, both of Wichita; Mrs. Elizabeth Throck, Long Beach; Chas. Banta, Palm Dale, Calif; a son at Greensburg; one sister, Mrs. Charles Stephenson of Greensburg; a half-sister, Mrs. Belle Taylor of Emporia; a half-brother, Don Banta, Bucklin.
Fred spent most of his life here and had many friends. His funeral was held Saturday from the M.E. church and burial was at Maple Hill.
