Mrs. Thames, 88, died Feb. 13, 2003, at King's Daughters Medical Center. She was born in Lincoln County on March 6, 1914, to Willie Martin and Mollie Williamson Martin.
She was a retired nurse technician, with 27 years service at King's Daughters Medical Center. She was a member of Bethel Temple Pentecostal Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Benjamin Thames; her brothers, Jessie Martin, Estus Martin and Ralph Martin; and three sisters, Myrtis Allen, Elvis Sartin and Lillian Martin.
Survivors are her son, Doyle Thames of Ruth; her daughter, Yvonne Wooten of Brookhaven; her sisters, Melva Boyte and Jewell Martin, both of Brookhaven; and eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
