Lizzie Wibkie Stearley, 92, formerly of Shelton, died on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Mount Carmel Home in Kearney. Lizzie was born on July 16, 1918, in Franklin to Jerry and Tina (Bienhoff) Tobiassen.

Lizzie married Elwyn A. Smith on Oct. 13, 1940, in Franklin. She married Everett Stearley on Aug. 3, 1966. He preceded her in death.

Survivors are: daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and Byron Wiseman of Kearney and Ellen and William Luehr of Wood River; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Judy Smith of Omaha; sisters, Martha Lang of Hastings and Dora Griffin of Franklin; grandchildren, Le Anne Wiseman of Columbia, Mo., Bruce Wiseman (Marci) of Tarzana, Calif., Karla Wiseman of Long Beach, Calif., Sherri Wiseman (Dominick Esposito) of Laguna Niguel, Calif., Mark Wiseman (Katie) of Grapevine, Texas, Tonya Luehr of Denver, Cydney Callanan of Redondo Beach, Calif., Stephanie Perry (Christian) of New York City, Whitney Smith (Sara) of Tekamah and Ashley Smith of Waterloo; great-grandchildren, Jillian Wiseman of Tarzana, Calif., Shannon Fox of Columbia, Mo., and Christopher Smith of Tekamah; and a host of relatives and friends.

Lizzie attended a country school until the eighth grade. She helped on the family farm and then worked in the creamery in Franklin.

Lizzie worked at the Gibbon Turkey Plant, Reeder's Paint and Flooring and in the lunch program at Shelton School. She was an excellent seamstress and the family always enjoyed her homemade chicken and noodles.

Lizzie was baptized in the Christian faith at Zion Lutheran Church at Macon and confirmed on March 25, 1934.

In addition to her husband, Everett, she was preceded in death by her parents; stepdaughter, Evelyn Fothergil; and brother, Albert.

Burial was in The Shelton Cemetery, Shelton, NE.
