Blanche R. Ruppert, 85, died on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at the Lutheran Nursing and Rehab Center at Sprenkle Drive.

Blanche was born on November 24, 1925 in Dover Township and was the daughter of Emory and Jennie (Swembly) Ruppert.

She was a 1945 graduate of York High. Although Blanche never married or had children of her own she adored being with children. She also loved dogs, and for many years shared her life with her little dog, Susie. Blanche was an avid collector of all types of teddy bears, and her large collection is a testament to her dedication. Blanche also enjoyed flowers and became good friends with the West York staff at Charles A. Schaefer.

As a child of the Great Depression, Blanche knew what it was like to be poor and in need. One of her proudest achievements was paying all of her mother's medical debts from her final illness although it took many years and sacrifices to do so.

Blanche was always a person of great integrity. Another proud accomplishment was becoming a first-time homeowner when she was in her mid-70s. Her new home allowed her to display her flair for decorating. She created a lovely environment in her home where she always welcomed visitors. Blanche was a long-time member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and trusted in Jesus Christ as her Savior and friend. Even as her illness robbed her of many things, she still looked forward to saying the Lord's Prayer together with others.

Blanche was a member of the Dentsply 25 Year Club. As an employee of Dentsply International for 58 years, Blanche had one of the longest employment records with the company. At work she was known as a person who cared about doing her best and who never gossiped about others.

Blanche is survived by her cousin, Ida Landis and friends from her neighborhood, church, and days at Dentsply. Blanche's only sibling, Anna Mae, died as a young child. Blanche's last years were marked with declining health and her friends thank the staff at Lutheran Nursing and Rehab as well as Compassionate Care Hospice for their kindness to Blanche. Blanche loved helping others and never forgot what it was like to be in need.

Burial will be at Greenmount Cemetery.
